Kate Kelly is active in the arts community both as a visual artist and poet and was recognized as a New York State Woman of Distintion 2005 by Senator John Flanagan. She has published her work in numerous small press magazines including Voices International, DICO, Oasis d’Neon. Humanities, Pegasus, PPA Literary Review, Xanadu, and The Long Island Quarterly.  She is the author of BARKING AT SUNSPOTS and other poems (Justin Books 1987, 144 pp.) and ON MAXWELL STREET (Birnham Wood Graphics 2003, 30 pp.) Her works have appeared in numerous online publications. She is a featured poet on the CD, Northport Celebrates Jack, with music by David Amram.

She has been an invited guest reader at the annual Kerouac Festival in Lowell, MA, a featured participant in a marathon reading of Kerouac's Big Sur, in Northport, NY, (in conjunction with concurrent readings in San Francisco, CA, Orlando, FL, and Lowell, MA), and a featured narrator in A Woody Guthrie Retrospective, a benefit performance for the Huntington Disease Society of America. Some presentations include invitational readings at the Bowery Poetry Club and Bistro Ten 18, in Manhattan and many venues on Long Island.

Kelly has served as an associate editor of the online poetry magazine, Poetry Bay (www.poetrybay.com), is a member of the Bare Bones Theater Company, Northport, NY, and has curated several exhibits for the Art League of Long Island and the Northport Arts Coalition. She was a founding member and first co-chair of the Northport Arts Coalition and now serves on their advisory board.
